Introduction to GNOME Shell
The GNOME Shell is the core user
interface of the GNOME Desktop
environment.
This package is known to build and work properly using an LFS 12.4
platform.

Installation of GNOME Shell
Install GNOME Shell by running the
following commands:
mkdir build &&
cd build &&
meson setup --prefix=/usr \
--buildtype=release \
-D tests=false \
.. &&
ninja
To run the tests, ensure Mutter is
installed after running its test suite, and issue: meson configure -D tests=true && ninja
test. You must be running an X session to run the
tests. Some will fail if GDM-48.0 is not installed. One test named
CSS styling support is known to fail
with some multi-monitor configurations.
Now, as the root user:
ninja install
Command Explanations
--buildtype=release:
Specify a buildtype suitable for stable releases of the package, as
the default may produce unoptimized binaries.
-D extensions_tool=false: This switch
allows building this package without gnome-autoar-0.4.5 installed.
