Nmap is a utility for network exploration and security auditing. It supports ping scanning, port scanning and TCP/IP fingerprinting.

Installation of Nmap

Install Nmap by running the following commands:

./configure --prefix=/usr &&
make

This package does not come with a test-suite:

Now, as the root user:

make install

Installed Programs: nmap and optionally, nmapfe
Installed Libraries: None
Installed Directories: /usr/share/applications and /usr/share/nmap
