Introduction to libgpg-error

The libgpg-error package contains a library that defines common error values for all GnuPG components. .

This package is known to build and work properly using an LFS-7.6 systemd platform.

Installation of libgpg-error

Install libgpg-error by running the following commands:

./configure --prefix=/usr --disable-static &&
make

To test the results, issue: make check.

Now, as the root user:

make install &&
install -v -m644 -D README /usr/share/doc/libgpg-error-1.13/README

The shared library needs to be moved to /lib, and as a result the .so file in /usr/lib will need to be recreated. Run the following command as the root user:

mv -v /usr/lib/libgpg-error.so.* /lib
ln -sfv ../../lib/$(readlink /usr/lib/libgpg-error.so) /usr/lib/libgpg-error.so

--disable-static: This switch prevents installation of static versions of the libraries.

gpg-error

is used to determine libgpg-error error codes.

gpg-error-config

is a utility used to configure and build applications based on the libgpg-error library. It can be used to query the C compiler and linker flags which are required to correctly compile and link the application against the libgpg-error library.

libgpg-error.so

contains the libgpg-error API functions.
